Protected Zones UNESCO - Chránené územia UNESCO
Among five localities inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List there are four preservation areas in the territory of Slovakia.
Properties inscribed on the World Heritage List: Banská Štiavnica (1993), Bardejov Town Conservation Reserve (2000), Spišský Hrad and its Associated Cultural Monuments (1993), Vlkolínec (1993), Caves of Aggtelek Karst and Slovak Karst (1995), plus also 15 treasures - sites proposed for inclusion on the List of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage! We can show you all of them!


Caves - Jaskyne
In Slovakia there is about four thousand registered caves! They are mostly drop-stone caves and several are glacial of different size and shape. In many of them findings proving settlements older than 5,000 years were found; some of them are used for speleotherapy. The best-known ones have been declared as national monuments. Twelve Slovak caves are open for the public.
Domica Cave, this Slovak treasure, has been included by UNESCO on the list of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Subterranean streams Styx and Acheron create a 22 km long complex running far into the territory of Hungary. It is the biggest karst territory in Central Europe as it covers 600 km2!
Very interesting is Dobsinska Ladová jaskyna (Ice cave), which is among the biggest glaciated caves in Europe, as it is comprised of 145 thousand m3 of ice with a thickness of 26.5 m, covers an area of 11.200 m2.
Unique one is the Aragonite Cave in Ochtina. It belongs to the three caves of its kind in the world that are open to the public. The deepest cave is Stary Hrad in Tatra Mountains with depth of 432 m.


Inaccessive Caves - Neprístupné Jaskyne

In Inaccessive Caves of Slovakia! e. g. in the Cave of Death Bats in Low Tatras or Krasnohorska cave in Slovak Karst. Entry with us to the caves which are closed for public access and offers top adventure and beauty.


Ancient monuments - Starodávne pamiatky
Archaeological findings provide much evidence about settlements, which are 7.000 years old. The oldest stone town on the territory of Slovakia, discovered at Spissky Stvrtok town dates back to the 16th century B.C. Many areas contain reminders of Celtic presence as well as Roman settlements, which lasted for 1.500 years. The oldest settlements of humans in Slovakia are dated from period more then 600 000 years ago including settlements from Stone Age.
Slovak "China's wall" near Pecenice village is a wall more than 30 km long and sometimes up to 8m. high!! Known already from 13th century, but believed to be much older. Also believed to have huge range from northern parts of Europe (Poland) up to the southern parts of Hungary with a very precise north - south direction.


Technical monuments - Technické pamiatky
Monuments left by hardworking and ingenious people as for example: Mountain Railway in Cierny Balog or Sustenative forest railway in Vychylovka takes tourists to the heights. The closest similar system is in Southern America, water mills Oblazy, Spanodolinsky duct and many more which we can show you.
Complex of lakes - Tajchy - originally more than 60 artificial reservoirs built in the 18th century in the neighbourhood of Banska Stiavnica. They devised an ingenious system of canals and pipes enabling water to flow into the mines where it set in motion the operation of water wheels driving ore mills, pumps and ore blowers. 24 of them have been preserved. The best known reservoir is called Pocuvadlo, which serves today as a recreation centre;


Historic Cities and Old Villages - Historické Mestá a staré dediny
Villages and cities with interesting historical monuments, memorial places of great people known in all around the world. Gypsy villages where you will feel like in the different world with their native songs and dances. Cities on far east frontier of European Union, where the time has stopped many years ago and you will explore it with us...
Kremnica town is an ancient mining town with the oldest mint in the world. First Kremnica ducats were minted here in 1335; the mint has never stopped its work since then.


Museums and Outdoor Museums - Muzeá a Skanzeny
Outdoor muzeums with native architecture build in the nature as Vlkolinec, which represents the best-preserved urbanistic unit of original folk houses. Most importantly, people are still living in Vlkolinec! Up to the present time there have been about 45 objects of folk architecture preserved. Museum of Slovak village near Martin town, Cicmany, Vychylovka, Zuberec, Plavecky Peter, Podbiel, Sebechleby, Spania Dolina, Bardejov spa, Zdiar and Military muzeums.
Brhlovce - You can find 45 unique dwellings that were not built but hewn out of the volcanic tuff and they served for protection against Turk attacks. The Museum of Housing is in one of them.


Castles, Mansions, Chateaus, Manor Houses, Stately homes, Ruins - Zámky, Kaštiele, Hrady a Zrúcaniny
Castles can be divided into those which have been restored, and those which have fallen into ruin. Every region of the country offers some of each. Restored castles, some of which were never fortified and therefore are in fact palaces, offer a glimpse of how the wealthy lived. Castle ruins are more interesting for those with explorer spirits, in part because they usually require significant walking or gentle climbing; they have deliciously eerie atmosphere. We have 109 castles and 435 mansions!
The ancient Devín Castle is the oldest in Slovakia and the Spiš Castle is one of the most precious castles in Europe of its time! Orava Castle is one of the most stunning. Each castle has a story attached to it. Cachtice Castle, near Trencín, was the home of the Countess Elisabeth Bathory, known as the female Dracula, in the 17th century. She believed that bathing in the blood of young girls would keep her forever young. Pusty castle in Zvolen city, which is believed to have the biggest surface dimension in Europe!


Folk art - Folklór
Folk arts and crafts, which include wood carving, fabric weaving, glass painting, have a long and popular tradition in Slovakia, especially in rural areas. Even today you can enjoy these wonderful arts with us!
Visitors of the eastern part of Slovakia can find 26 precious sacral buildings (wooden churches) from the first half of the 19th century. Many of them hide treasurables iconostasis. The complex was designated a national cultural monument.
Ethnographic places and villages where time has stopped. Gypsies and their habitats, which are here at least from the 15th century. In their villages, by their culture you will feel like 100 years ago! Listen to native gypsy music and dance through Romathan group from Kosice!
Taste with us our "the most Slovak" meal what is considered to be "Bryndzove halusky" / Ewe's cheese dumplings; prepared according to regional traditions, like potato pancakes - harula, lokse, cabbage soup, mutton with garlic, or spoups - sour potato soup with mushrooms or legume soup. Growing vine has also long been tradition in Slovakia. First records on growing vine were mentioned at the beginning of our era and are connected with the name Marcus Aurelius. The best areas for vine growing are the south eastern slopes of the Small Carpathians. In 1767 empress Mary Therese chose Racianska Frankovka as a red wine suitable for the royal court. The famous Tokay region stretches into the eastern part of Slovakia from Hungary.
We show you where lived Juraj Janosik our national hero from the legends of native people. We will tell you who was Mr. Pavol from Levoca town and show you his gothical altar in Levoca church of S. Jakub. This is the highest wooden altar in the world!


Sacral Places - Sakrálne pamiatky
We will explore wonderful churches and cathedrals. Wooden churches from 17. and 18. century and together will step on holy pilgrimage places. Where from old times people come with faith and hope.


Spa - Kúpele
Slovakia is exceptionally rich in quality thermal water. Their healing capacity stimulated the establishment of many well-known spas. Thermal water, which is widely used in balneotherapy for several centuries in the regions having a positive impact on the health conditions of adults as well as children there treated.
Throughout the country there are picturesque little towns, which abound in thermal springs with amazing healing properties. The thermal waters as well as the curative mud alleviate the aches and pains of those suffering from various complaints.

Healing springs - Liečivé pramene
There are more than 1.300 mineral and thermal springs in Slovakia. Many of them became the basis for establishing spa towns, many of them come to the market as table and minerals waters. The highest temperature of thermal spring in Podhajska reaches 83'C, which is higher than temperature of all the springs in Karlove Vary (the most famous spa town in the Czech Republic) and its content is similar to water of the Dead Sea!


Hiking - Turistika
In summer, thanks to the many beautiful mountainous regions of Slovakia, hiking is a favourite activity which allows the visitor to discover the impressive landscapes of the Carpathian Mountains. In winter, because of favourable snowfalls, skiing is a favourite sport in Slovakia with its extensive ski areas, which are easily accessible and which offer all modern conveniences and security. Top-level equipment in an exceptional natural environment (High Tatras, Low Fatra, Low Tatras) makes it possible to welcome skiers from all World, and all of this at very reasonable prices. Slovakia offers great conditions for hiking, because it's perfectly equipped with touristic paths. Wonderful hiking can be done from lowland up to snowy peaks. Touristic paths lead through deep forests, valleys and gorges with waterfalls up to hills with fantastic views.
The highest peak in Carpathian mountains Gerlachovsky Peak (Gerlachovsky Stit) in Tatra Mountains (2655 metres high) and can be reached only with the help of a mountain guide,
Geographical centre of the Europe near the St John's Church in Kremnicke Bane village - this place is proud to be The very Centre of the Europe from ancient times; The middle of Slovakia is considered to be the Hrb hill, in the northern part of the Polana mountain range. Its altitude is 1.255 m above sea level and it is almost the exact average between the highest and the lowest place of the territory ;-)
Primaeval forests - Badinsky forest belongs to the oldest preservation areas in Slovakia. In the year 2000 it was visited by Crown prince Charles from Britain. We have several Primaeval forests in Slovakia e.g. Stuzica forest in east of Slovakia.
Geyser - The best known and only one here is Geyser in Herlany, located in this area with terminated tectonically activity is the only cold geyser in the Europe! Every 32 hours it streams out to almost 20 metres.


Mountains - Hory
Discover our Tatra Mountains from one of its touristic centres around them. We will take a walk through never endless forests, which take up to 38% of Slovakia. Slovak forests are full of game - boar, deer, roebuck, moufflon, fallow deer... There are many carnivores as well, such as fox badger, wolf or bob cat. The brown bear is the largest omnivore. Because of its unique diversity of biotopes, many precious animal species can be found in Slovakia.
We climb the highest peaks of the Carpathian Mountains and look down to colorful tarns and mountain lakes. There are more than 100 of them!
Discover the Chamois - animal which lives in high mountains and there is only few pieces in the world of this speces and is highly protected! The paradise for climbers is High Tatra, which are comparable with Alps including many training rocks throughout Slovakia. Slovakia is skiing friendly including alpinism.


National parks - Národné parky
In Slovakia nature protection has a long history and has achieved a very good level. More than a fifth of the territory of the Slovak Republic is under a certain level of legal protection of nature and the countryside. Tatransky National Park (TANAP), Pieniny, the Low Tatras, Little Fatra, Muranska Plain, Poloniny, Slovak Karst and Great Fatra are the top nine national parks.
In national parks we preserve the most precious heritage. The Tatra National Park entices people to climb the mountains. In the Pieniny National Park the river Dunajec forges ahead along a narrow valley and affords a view of the countryside from the angle of rafts that ply the river. The Low Tatra National Park is an absolute paradise for tourists. In the Great Fatra and Small Fatra National Parks the well-preserved folk architecture forms one of the atractions. Ravines, waterfalls, caves and gorges - these form the attractions of the Slovak Paradise National Park. Likewise the wooden churches in the Poloniny National Park are a great discovery. In East Slovakia you will come across the splendid Slovak Karst National Park and likewise the pleasant Muranska Plain National Park. We can bring you to all of these places and show you all!

We have contacts with many horse ranches in Slovakia. There is many Riding Fairs in Slovakia during year! One of them is Hubertova Jazda (Hubert's Ride) in Lunterov Ranch in Zvolen - Kralova. Vulcanos - Sopky
The highest and best preserved tertiary Volcano Polana 1458 meters high, last active before more than 13 million years. On the top of it touristic centre!
Other volcanos are: Lake Krater - Crater in the Vihorlat mountains is spread across a crater valley of volcanic origin and Putikov Vrsok near Banska Stiavnica is another dead volcano in Slovakia.
